Land Development – Part Eight – Landscaping
It’s a long road to reaching the eighth and final part of a site work project that begins with a piece of raw land and eventually transforms it into a beautiful, useful home or commercial property.
Now that the final flatwork has been installed by the site work company, project completion is right around the corner with the addition of some professional landscaping and other fixtures.
Always the last trade to come in, landscaping site work services add that final spit and polish to the location so it looks move-in ready and all remaining hints of all the major construction and development work that went on to transform it are gone.
Irrigation Planning and Installation
Before any plantings or amenities are installed on a finished development project, a site work company must first plan out the final landscape so that irrigation systems can be installed in regions where supplemental irrigation is necessary.
Underground irrigation systems must be dug and installed on the building site, then connected into the existing underground water lines at the pre-established point of connection, whether at the home that’s been built or at a separate water service stub for a neighborhood or a commercial property.
The installed irrigation system will either connect to or have its own built-in water meter, pressure regulator, backflow preventer, flow sensor, and control panel so it can be programmed to work as required to keep the finished building site looking its best.
Plantings
After any required irrigation systems have been installed, the time has come for a site work service to add plantings.
The planning of the landscaping is done by the landscaper in conjunction with the home or building architect and other site work contractors to ensure locations, drainage, and other concerns are all planned and completed before the first planting goes in.
Once a finalized plan is in place and the irrigation system has been installed, the site landscaping service will go ahead and start putting in the plantings starting with trees.
After planting trees, the landscaper will put in bushes and shrubs, mark out planting beds for groundcover and flowers, and add any other foliage required to turn the barren site into something much more beautiful.
If sod is required as part of the site work, it will also be installed now.
Amenities and Fixtures
Once the trees and other landscaping has been installed, the site work company will put in any fixtures like benches, barbeques, trellises and pergolas, playground equipment, mailboxes, pet waste stations, and whatever other components are required.
These fixtures may be installed on home lots or within the community as the final additions to the finished work site.
Land Development In Eight Steps
Developing raw land to turn it into clean, useful sites for constructing homes and buildings is a complicated process with many steps.
Starting with the first rough grading site work and continuing on to the final landscaping, it involves multiple site work services with different specialties, from setting in wet and dry utilities to grading the ground to adding flatwork and street improvements.
The landscapers coming in to improve the appearance of finished building plots are the final icing on the cake, the last process in having turned wild land into a valuable, useful property!
